Food, Ramsay

(If you like Gordon Ramsay, read my series of posts on Life Lessons from Chef Ramsay - here’s Part One or read my review of the U.S. version of Kitchen Nightmares)

Want to win a copy of one of Gordon Ramsay’s cookbooks?
I’m going to be announcing a contest in the next few days where you can…check back for details.

The big news is that Kitchen Nightmares was been renewed by Fox for more episodes.

Fox is cooking up more “Kitchen Nightmares.”Net has greenlit another cycle of the Gordon Ramsay reality skein, which has proved to be a solid performer in a hellish Wednesday night timeslot. At least 10 episodes of the skein will be produced for broadcast sometime next year.

Produced by A. Smith & Co, Granada and Optomen, “Nightmares” is a sort-of spinoff of “Hell’s Kitchen” in which Ramsay attempts to whip wayward restaurants into shape. Fox alternative prexy Mike Darnell said the skein’s hung in opposite some of
TV’s toughest competition, including “Private Practice,” “Criminal Minds” and “Bionic Woman.”

“To be doing well and moving up on that night and against that competition is nothing short of miraculous,” he said, noting “Kitchen Nightmare’s” week-to-week ratings growth. “I think this show is going to be on this network for a long time.”

Greenlight for another cycle of “Nightmares” sets up the possibility of year-round Ramsay on Fox. Net is currently in production on back-to-back cycles of “Hell’s Kitchen,” with the current 10-episode season of “Nightmares” in the can.

Ellen

Ramsay was on Ellen earlier in the week. As talk show cooking appearences go, it was pretty good.

Old Stone Mill

This week’s restaurant is the Olde Stone Mill in Tuckahoe. (Tuckahoe was where Bea Arthur lived in the 70s TV show Maude, if you remember.) It seems like another not-really-that-bad restaurant.

The disturbing trend of people getting on the show for their own personal fame seems to be continuing. First, we had Peter from Peter’s Italian Restaurant who as I mentioned in a previous post was a wanna be actor. Now this, from the Olde Stone Mill’s webpage….

DEAN MARRAZZO:

OWNER/ACTOR

Dean Marrazzo is an experienced restauranteur with over twenty years in the business. If you haven’t seen him in one of his past restaurants like Cafe Pomodoro in Yonkers, or Aqua in South Hampton, you may have seen him in television shows like The Guiding Light, or As the World Turns. As an actor, Dean Marrazzo has also appeared in many films such as Jesus, Mary & Joey, A Cup of Coffee, and Full Circle. On stage, he starred in the Off Broadway production Tower of Babble and Death of a Salesman.

Dean promises that after he gets his Hollywood” big break”, you’ll still find him greeting guests at the Olde Stone Mill.

I translate ‘you may have seen him’ to mean he was an extra. And sure as you’re born, Dean has an IMDB page, too - complete with the photos you need to pay to add.

Here’s where the Olde Stone Mill is…2 Scarsdale Road in Tuckahoe. Pretty sure Dean will still be there.
