The writers were originally asking for slightly higher DVD royalties but they dropped that request because the big issue for them is the internet / download stuff - they realize that in a few years that could be EVERYTHING. And of course the studios realize that, too.</description>

		<description>Thanks for explaining this. I&#039;m not in the industry at all, so I had no idea what the issues were, and they&#039;ve done it VERY well.

I guess one of the things that just makes it worse is that the networks are planning on doing more reality TV show with non union writers. I understand the inequity now with the whole web thing. They really should be compensated, especially given how much money the titans of the network as well as the internet make. Google, Yahoo, You Tube, Blogger --they&#039;re all gazillionaires.</description>
