The US version of Kitchen Nightmares is most definitely scripted. You can tell this, firstly by the way virtually every episode follows the same format (Chef says he can't see what the problem is, Gordon arrives, Chef makes him food and says "He wont find any problem with this", Gordon eats it and says it's revolting, Chef gets in a huff, Gordon comes back the following day with a plan to make lots of changes, Chef and Gordon have a big shouting match, Chef storms out, later on Chef returns and grudgingly follows Gordon's plan, customers say how wonderful everything is now, Chef agrees that he was wrong and Gordon was right....everything in the garden is rosey).

And secondly by some of the shockingly bad continuity edits - in one episode the chef shouts and Gordon and storms out. Gordon runs after him and confronts him, and the chef has miraculously put a different shirt on!

- danish produced shows have a calm and informative narrative and they don't overdramatize every time they return from a commercial break. I guess they believe they have to continue to say 'coming up next' and 'you downt wanna miss'. Here's an idea: Just let the show speak for itself, and stop feeding the viewers with false promising teasers.

I would also say that I'm disapointed with the US version. Especially as you write; the narrator. I live in Denmark and all of our

PLEASE REMEMBER EVERYONE. Gordon Ramsey Himself doesn't do any of the editing, That's why the BBC version and the FOX version of the same show tells a different story , Ramsey is only there to do the job, its the editors job to put the show together, so its not Gordon Ramsay that edits the show its the producers..

I often wonder if the people who flat-out accuse KN of fakery have ever worked in a restaurant or have any real restaurant experience. Because if you've had as much experience in a restaurant as I've had, you know they really don't need to use fakery on this show.

I've personally witnessed:
an entire line leaving to get high and then stopping service to make food for themselves

a waitress who had to wait on a bunch of drunk business men. They asked to see what she had on under her apron, and then removed her apron. When she complained, she was promptly fired.

a chef who flipped out all the time and swore as much as Chef Ramsey. His grill was attached to the bar in the dining room. People came for the food and to see him act out. (In his defense, I had only ONE complaint about the food in the 2 years I worked there.)

People stealing booze, beer, and even food. One restaurant had to lock up the beer because there was so much theft when the owners were not around.

an angry line cook who put a wet towel in a burrito and served it!

totally pre-prepared food at an Italian eatery.

These restaurants are already in dire straits. And ANYONE can open a restaurant. If the owners are suckish, then the restaurant is suckish and everyone will take advantage. I don't believe that there's alot to make up. Just get a job at a privately owned restaurant and see what I mean.

I was just banned by Nikita because I reprimanded another poster for cursing out a QVC host, and saying that some TWoPers look for any excuse to unfairly personally attack those hosts. Nikita is indeed a fascist, and a personal abuse enabler.
